HACTC Credit Options
STEM at the Hartford Area and Technology Center is designed to be flexible for students and their credit paths. All PLTW courses are aligned and assessed using the High School Common Core State Standards for Mathematical Practice, Next Generation Science Standards, and Standards for Technology Literacy.

IED

Is a full year, 2.25 hour per day class, in Project Lead The Way Introduction to Engineering with an option to take an Algebra II equivalent mathematics course. Students should have successfully completed a high school equivalent Algebra I and Geometry course to enroll.

POE

Is a full year, 2.25 hour per day class, in Project Lead The Way Principles of Engineering with an option to obtain an additional Physics equivalent science course and an option to take Precalculus for 6 college credits. Those that opt to take Physics will receive a high school Physics credit but is not considered a physics lab credit to some colleges. Those that opt to take for Precalculus credit will have to complete assignments outside of the normal 2.25 hour per day class. Students should have previously taken the IED course to enroll or receive permission from the instructor.
Engineering credit will be provided through St. Cloud State University.
Precalculus credit will be provided through Vermont Technical College. |
